July 4th celebration 2009
The 2009 July 4th celebration was a wonderful success. This year the parade
began with an F-16 flyover by the 178th fighter troop. Two ladder trucks from
Wilmington and Lebanon provided an archway for the parade procession to go
through. It was a cool sight. Grand Marshall's were the church's very own Mr.
Paul and Mrs. Virginia Schwamberger - icons of the community and very
deserving of this prestigase title. We also had the Older Than Dirt band. This year
we had a Blessing of the Bike's as Pastor Ann blessed each individual rider. It's
such a surprise to come and find this much entertainment in our small town but
we are alive with spirit and energy. The parade begins at our newly built firehouse
(something you just have to check out) and ending on the lawn of the Clarksville
United Methodist Church where we host a cookout. The money raised supports a
multitude of local and international charities that are distributed at the November
ladies (Twilight Workers) meeting. These charities include but are not limited to:
Heifer International, Wilmington Homeless Shelter, Clinton County Violence and
Protection Center, Red Bird Mission (Ohio), Your Father's Kitchen in Wilmington,
Clinton County Kids and Cops, etc.
